WHISTLER, British Columbia — Following the most recent snowstorm
that dropped eight inches in 24 hours, Whistler Blackcomb has recorded
345 inches of snow so far this season. It's the most the resort has
seen by this time in January in 27 years of record-keeping.
The previous record total through January was 325 inches in the
1991-1992 season. There's currently a base of 120 inches at
mid-mountain.
"This has been the most incredible season here, and we've been
extremely lucky compared to other resorts on the East Coast and
throughout Europe," says Stuart Rempel, Whistler Blackcomb's senior
vice president of marketing and sales.
Whistler Blackcomb could pass its average season total of 33 feet of snow by the end of January.
